LOK-IT was recognized this week with a GCN Reviewer’s Choice badge with Government Computer New’s GCN Lab Review of LOK-IT.
In addition to stating that the drive had only “Pros” and no “Cons”, Greg Crowe, GCN reviewer since 2002, stated that LOK-IT is, “a key drive even CSO’s can love.”
The statement above is a significant, since unsecured USB flash drives are the bane of many an IT Manager due to the liability associated with employee’s losing flash drives with unsecured data. LOK-IT provides IT Managers the confidence that if a drive were to be lost, absolutely nobody would be able to access the information contained on the USB drive, and also importantly, the users will find LOK-IT just as easy to use and flexible as the typical unsecured drive.
The GCN USB flash drive review is another example of why both government and enterprises need solutions that provide the necessary security, but do not add to the already sometimes overwhelming IT administrative efforts.
Also impressive to the reviewer was the added security that LOK-IT hardware authentication provides…
The hardware authentication is an improvement over its software-based counterpart in several ways. First, it eliminates the inherent weaknesses that software authentication introduces. For instance, a hacker could insert some malware into authentication software that would keep a record of keystrokes made, which the hacker could review to figure out a user’s password. That tactic, called keylogging, is not easy to pull off because the hacker would also need access to either the drive or a computer to which it connects. But that means that, even with software authentication, a drive that has left the user’s sight for an extended period is potentially suspect. Not so with the hardware authentication found on the LOK-IT.
The LOK-IT platform independence was another huge advantage over other secure flash drives, as pointed out in the review.
